FREE IN-GROUND CONCRETE PIERS with all barn purchases. Don't risk having your new barn SINK into the ground. The shed is still free standing and remains moveable/portable.This is NOT considered a permanent foundation and complies with building code for a shed/mini barn.
Some companies set barns directly on the ground. I do not recommend this practice. The floor is more susceptible to rot if it is in contact with the ground. Leveling and flooding are other concerns with placing a barn on the ground.
Most barns are set on concrete blocks on top of the ground. This is the most common practice and is considered acceptable. However, the blocks WILL sink into the ground over time. Sometimes they sink evenly and the barn remains level. Sometimes not.
The best way we know to prevent the blocks from sinking is to support them with concrete rather than just dirt. We pour concrete piers in the ground for the leveling blocks to set on. The concrete provides a more stable base to support the weight of the barn and it's contents. Every leveling block is supported by a concrete pier (16 total for a 12x16 barn).
Due to popular demand, we are now including this service with every barn purchase.
